• Specify an oleophobic (anti-fingerprint) coating that repels skin oils, so smudges bead up and wipe away cleanly.

• Opt for a UV-cured hard coat or “scratch-resistant” lamination rated ≥3H pencil hardness to resist everyday scuffs.

Employ Hybrid or Spot Finishes

• Use spot-UV only on logos or key graphics—this concentrates high-gloss where it matters and leaves the bulk of the card in matte or soft-touch finish for better grip.

• A dual-finish approach (matte base + gloss accents) dramatically cuts down on full-surface wear and fingerprints.

Select the Right Substrate & Edge Sealing

• Print on 350 gsm+ cover stock with a tight, clay-coated surface to ensure lamination bonds strongly and won’t peel.

• Seal exposed cut edges with a complementary varnish or edge paint to prevent delamination and fiber pull.

Design for Durability

• Avoid large, dark-solid areas under gloss (they show smudges most). Instead, break up reflective zones with patterns, metallic inks, or embossing.

• Incorporate embossed or debossed elements—these add tactile interest and help hide minor surface marks.
